cardbroidery

How it began

Cardbroidery stitching card patterns started as a hobby. I had celebrated my 60th birthday, retired from work and had time on my hands. I enjoy stitching cards so thought I would have a go at creating my own stitching card patterns.

I have no super sonic designer software for creating patterns, just a computer and an old version of Photoshop. I'm not a whizz at Photoshop but know a bit to get by.

To create a pattern I first draw the picture by hand. When I'm satisfied that the picture will make a nice card, I prick with an old compass, the places where I think the dots should go. I then scan this onto my computer, and with Photoshop I substituted the prick marks for dots, making sure that the pattern design works.

If the pattern is successful I type the step-by-step instructions and add illustrations.

After I had designed a few patterns, I thought it would be nice if I had a website to offer these patterns to others who enjoy stitching cards. I couldn't afford to hire someone to design a website, so I went to College where I did a short part time evening course in web design and this website is the outcome.

I would like to say a big thank you to all who have purchased my patterns, I do hope they have given pleasure and enjoyment.

Best wishes
